The Park 65

Little babies in the park from the past few months. The second image was taken just a few meters away from the tamtams on a Sunday. It was loud and this little one was remarkably aware, listening, and unfazed.

The Park 64

A random group of photos from the park this summer. There is a definite park backlog happening, I will try to get more up soon!

Rainy days in the park this summer. Not unlike today. A good Montreal rainstorm is a great thing to see.

The Park 57

This summer Jeanne-Mance Park got all new benches and they are really quite beautiful. The municipality not only replaced the old ones, but added a lot of new ones too. It was a good move and the benches are well used. Above are a selection of images of people enjoying said benches.

Votes tabluated!

So I will be submitting 3 images to the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize. And here are the ones that you helped me choose:

This image was the clear winner.

 Second place.

These 2 below tied for third. I think that I will be submitting the top one since I am concerned about the sharpness of the bottom one, but I will probably print both and see which looks best.

Thanks so much for your votes everyone! It was great to see what you liked, my own personal jury process. I was originally thinking of submitting images like the winter biker (#6) but this got very few votes. And images like the three girls on the bench, and the soccer group got no votes (#s 9 and 10), so they obviously did not strike anyone. An interesting exercise, maybe we'll do it again sometime.

The UK's National Portrait Gallery's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize submission has once again come around. I have submitted to this contest at various times in the past and have yet to get any success. It is an expensive submission and a tedious one but I can't help but be drawn in. I remember going to the National Portrait Gallery many times in my youth (we lived in England for a year) and loving it. So despite the costs I am once again submitting this year. But this time I have a new approach. I want your opinion on what I should submit! I am going to submit a portrait or two from my The Park series and above are the ones that I think are the strongest. So vote in the comments below for your top 3. And if there is another park portrait that I have not included that you think I should submit tell me the blog post title (and describe the image) and I will consider that too. So kill a few minutes and help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!
